Herring's Pippin

UK variety
Probably raised by Mr Herring of Lincoln.  Recorded 1908 and introduced by Pearson's Nursery of Nottingham

Very striking; large bright red.  Crisp and juicy, rather course in texture with distinct flavour of aniseed.

Pick early September, store September-October
