Dear friend,
And just like that, we are back round to my favourite season, Autumn. It has been a little rainier than I’d like, the fallen leaves aren’t as crunchy, but the colours are beautiful nonetheless.
Thank you to all that have helped us with our harvest this year; on our additional August harvesting sessions and our regular Tuesday sessions on the Nursery. Your continued support ensures we have enough food to distribute to the local communities and at our free Orchard sessions such as Play, Grow & Eat and Community Days.
We are also happy to announce that we have secured further funding for an additional New Shoots session on a Thursday afternoon, in term time. These sessions are for local families with children ages 0-4, to provide an outdoor open space where children and families can connect with nature, learn and explore.
Our second term of our City and Guilds qualification is well underway with two fantastic groups, learning and developing their skills in practical horticulture. Spaces to join us in January are limited, find out how to enrol with us further down this newsletter.
Coming up this month, we host our biggest event on the Community Orchard – Apple Day!
This will be taking place on Saturday 26th October, 12-3pm. All welcome as we enjoy apple pressing and tasting, lots of kids crafts and activities and more.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
P.S. If you’d like to receive news like this in your inbox each month, join our mailing list here.
Best wishes,
Kayleigh

On the last Wednesday of every month, we lead walks around St Ann’s Allotments, 1:30-3pm. The 1.3-mile guided tour takes you to our Heritage Display Garden and Nursery, telling the 700-year story of how this 75-acre site changed from pasture and orchards, to Victorian pleasure gardens, to working-class allotments. Including stories of people who lived here and the grassroots campaign to save the site from redevelopment.
