This is a practical course leading to your choice of City & Guilds Award, Certificate or Diploma at Level 2.

The qualifications will be delivered at STAA’s four unique project sites on the beautiful and historic St Anns Allotments, Nottingham.

There are two course options:

Pro Gardener

City and Guilds Level 2 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Practical Horticulture Skills (7573)

Focusing on fundamental practical skills in horticulture, this professional gardening course enables learners to develop skills such as pruning, planting out, pedestrian-operated tool use and plant identification.

Our seasonal programme, provides a professionally focused route geared towards achieving the City & Guilds in Practical Horticulture Skills.

Grow Your Own

City and Guilds Level 2 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Practical Horticulture Skills (7573)

Grow like a pro and yield your best results by signing up for our grow your own horticulture course.

This essential gardening course will develop learners’ skills in growing vegetables and flowers from seed, maintaining growing spaces and improving soil fertility, rearing soft fruit bushes and canes and harvesting produce.

You can also combine units from our City and Guilds qualifications with our workshops, masterclasses and NPTC qualifications to create your own unique learning journey.

Will I get a certificate?

There are 3 levels of certification available within the course:

  • AWARD

The Award in Practical Horticulture Skills (7573) comprises of 36 Guided Learning hours; Total qualification time of 60 hours and the achievement of 6 Credits from our seasonal programme.

  • CERTIFICATE

The Certificate in Practical Horticulture Skills (7573) comprises 18 credits, and these credits can be broken down into 5 or 6 units. Each unit that you complete will earn you 3 credits toward the overall 18-credit certificate. This modular approach is beneficial for tailoring the program to your own individual needs and interests.

  • DIPLOMA

The City & Guilds Diploma in Practical Horticulture Skills (7573) comprises of 37 credits and is a respected and valuable qualification to advance your horticultural career and deepen your understanding of practical horticulture skills.
