This year, STAA undertook a restructuring of our small team of staff to better enable us to serve our communities. We’re delighted to announce that Lucy Kennedy has been appointed our new Service Manager for Horticulture, Nature and Volunteering. Here is what she had to say about her new role:
“I started with STAA as a volunteer in 2007, developing the early version of the Urban Nature project. Like many of us, I quickly fell in love with the place, and was thrilled to get my first paid role with STAA in 2014 as Partnerships Officer I have since been involved with virtually all aspects of STAA’s work, from tours and groups, wildlife and fruit trees, open days and funding bids – but I’ve always been busy developing our volunteering opportunities.
As a keen gardener, and with a wildlife conservation background, I am thrilled to now take on the role of Service Manager for Horticulture, Nature, and Volunteering. We have a small team for this side of STAA’s activities – myself, with Jenny Butcher and Lucy Coombes and a fantastic volunteer community. You’ll see us at many of the on-site volunteering sessions across the Nursery, Urban Nature and the Heritage Display Garden; as well as the Community Harvest project, learning programme and working with partners and groups.
I look forward to leading and developing this fruitful area of activity – the love for STAA and St Ann’s Allotments has never stopped!”
