We caught up with Meg Hale to find out what she’s excited about working on at STAA
Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m a tenacious self-starter with loads of enthusiasm and a can-do attitude. I’ve run my own business, and have experience in the service sector, specifically in hospitality and education. I’ve recently embarked on an MBA and am keen to develop my management and leadership skills.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time on my plot, cooking, travelling, and socialising down the pub – all things that I am really looking forward to doing again after lockdown!
What made you want to become a trustee at STAA?
I’m passionate about supporting the longevity and future of St Ann’s Allotments. Having been introduced to it several years ago I was blown away by its sheer scale, and now as a co-worker I have a vested interest in it. Becoming a trustee has fuelled my commitment to learning more about growing, cultivating and conservation, as well as developing my strategic capabilities.
I have huge appreciation and admiration for what STAA currently offers, and I can also see how it could be further developed to serve a wider demographic while retaining its core values. I’m interested in exploring options for how it could become more sustainable and I feel that it has a lot of untapped potential.
What are your ambitions for STAA?
My aspirations include supporting and co-creating community projects around education, growing, cooking, and service delivery. Projects such as these I feel are examples of what could be achieved at STAA, which in turn could enable further development and funding for the future of St Ann’s Allotments.
